How Can Startups and Entrepreneurs Compete in the War for Talent? With a PEO

How Can Startups and Entrepreneurs Compete in the War for Talent? With a PEO

It’s no secret that starting and running a small business is no small feat. Business owners are often pulled in what feels like a million directions — striving to ensure the business is growing, clients are happy, and that they actually get to sleep at night (or at least some nights!). But if you ask many entrepreneurs, they will tell you the one thing they never imagined would be so hard was managing their employees (even if they only have two) and providing the HR and benefits today’s top talent requires. As the workforce continues to undergo significant generational shifts and increasing competition in the war for talent, startups – by sheer nature of their size — are faced with challenges in delivering the attractive benefits that come more easily to larger organizations. As a result, working with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) is a popular option that many entrepreneurs are considering. ADP TotalSource®, the largest PEO in the United States with more than 400,000 worksite employees, has traditionally...

Everest Report Has ADP Beaming with Benefits Pride

Everest Report Has ADP Beaming with Benefits Pride

Benefits administration is enormously complex. A successful enrollment requires surgical precision and careful coordination of multiple sources of data from multiple systems. Organizations need to understand hundreds of intricate eligibility and enrollment rules and infinite combinations of rate structures to successfully manage the daily events that are today’s Benefits offerings. Getting it wrong creates exposure to financial and compliance risk, and now, more than ever, employee dissatisfaction. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) in particular has brought continued focus on the complexities of managing Benefits, leading many businesses to seek outside expertise. In addition, as organizations look for a competitive edge, offering a broader and more varied array of Health, Wellness, Financial and Lifestyle Benefits is emerging as away to attract and retain the best talent. The additional complexity caused by the increased number of Benefit offerings and the associated burden of connecting to multiple carriers and reconciling deductions to payroll has driven the increased interest in Benefits Administration Outsourcing (BAO). According to the Everest Group’s Anil Vijayan, the BAO...

ADP Awards Scholarships to Help Clients’ Employees Advance Their Careers

ADP recently awarded $125,000 in scholarships to 75 winners of its Aspire Scholarship Program, designed to help our clients’ employees continue their education and advance their careers. The 2016 scholarship recipients are among many employees of clients that outsource their HR functions with ADP. Excerpt from an award recipient’s application essay: “My intention is to further pursue my studies in the hopes that I will add a Bachelor’s degree to my achievements. It is…my opinion that the opportunities afforded to a recipient of a full education are advantageous in today’s competitive world,” wrote Joanne Sagastizado in her scholarship application. “I believe that the ability for me to complete another phase of my schooling will propel me toward additional accomplishments, which I look forward to.” The Aspire scholarships help cover tuition and other educational costs at an accredited college, university, technical school or trade school. An independent organization selected the winners based on academic achievement, community involvement, a written essay and financial need. “ADP is a strong advocate for encouraging...

U.S. Labor Market Continues to Improve but with Less Buoyancy

U.S. Labor Market Continues to Improve but with Less Buoyancy

Ahu Yildirmaz, Ph.D. Vice President, ADP Research Institute

We have just released the latest ADP Workforce Vitality Report, and it indicates that the labor market maintained its trend of growth in wages in the second quarter of 2016. The U.S. labor market continued to improve in the second quarter of 2016, but is less buoyant than it was at the end of 2015. Gains in the second quarter were driven by growth in hours worked and employment. Tracking the same set of full-time workers gives us a truer picture of wage growth among those who are consistently employed. Full-time job switchers fared better than job holders. Their wage growth rate slowed slightly, whereas holders’ growth rate slowed by more than a percentage point from the previous quarter on a yearly basis. Wage growth on a year-ago basis was moderate largely because of an unfavorable year-ago comparison. The positive trend in wage growth over the past few quarters suggests that wages may finally reflect the tightening labor market. Employers are continuing to provide raises to their workers for...
