BLACK ENTERPRISE Names ADP to “50 Best Companies for Diversity” List and Honors ADP Executive as One of “300 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America”

Rita Mitjans, Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer

As chief diversity and corporate social responsibility officer at ADP, I’m proud to announce two fantastic honors from BLACK ENTERPRISE® magazine around our diversity efforts. My colleague Debbie Dyson, president of National Account Services and Client Experience at ADP, was recently named one of the magazine’s “300 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America,” and ADP was just recognized as one of the “50 Best Companies for Diversity“ for the second straight year. In today’s tight labor market, it’s vital that organizations develop a culture and execute policies that promote inclusion of every race, gender and ethnicity within their workforces, senior management ranks, corporate boards, and supplier pools. Companies that aren’t focused on diversity are severely limiting their access to skilled talent. The best talent out there comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. It’s this diverse talent pool that brings diverse perspectives which drives innovation. Companies also need to reflect the markets they serve and understand the diverse consumer base that buys their products and services. If your workforce...

Workplace Compliance Spotlight: Tax Reform Is Here…Understanding the Impact, Part 1

Back in 1986, a gallon of gas cost $.93 cents. The New York Mets won the World Series, and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” hit the big screen. It was also the last time we reformed the tax code. Since 1986, the U.S. tax code has grown from less than 30,000 pages to over 70,000. That’s a lot of extra pages causing A LOT of extra confusion among employers. To help make sense of these changes (as regulations are released over time), and become mindful of potential compliance risk, please join us on February 8th at either 11am est or 1pm est where ADP experts will provide actionable insights to help you manage change. Topics of discussion will include: IRS Notice 1036: Highlights, implications, compare withholding calculation to actual 1040 tax rates/brackets Withholding on Supplemental wages under/over $1 million (22%/37%) 2018 withholding tables Affordable Care Act: Elimination of the ACA Individual Mandate Delay of Cadillac Tax Employee Benefits: Transportation Benefits Bicycle Commuting Expenses Business Entertainment, Amusement, and Recreational Activities Employee...

Creating an Employer Brand that’s a Talent Magnet

By Liz Gelb-O’Connor, VP, Global Employer Brand & Marketing at ADP® When you consider the ever increasing competition for talent, a strong employer brand to attract and retain talent is more critical than ever. According the ADP Research Institute® study, The Evolution of Work 2.0, 66 percent of employees globally are actively looking or open to a job move. That’s a lot. What makes a strong employer brand? It’s not only showing that your organization “walks the talk,” it’s about building advocacy from the inside out and having your employees reflect your employer brand through their experiences. Although employer brand has a marketing element, it has to be based on what is true and distinct about your company. Candidates should see and experience your brand in every interaction. What’s on your career site and incorporated into your social and digital presence should inspire a connection to your brand and your employment promise. At ADP, we started our employer branding journey almost two years ago. A key milestone was the...

ADP Benefits: Striving Ahead for Industry and User Benefit

By Will Giaconia, VP Benefits Administration As members of the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association (or LIMRA) electronic data exchange (EDI) working group, alongside Prudential, we are at the forefront of data exchange methodologies and standards. However, it is our latest collaboration with Prudential that we hope will help LIMRA and the EDI working group develop industry standards that benefit everyone. Especially employers and their employees. For much of the insurance industry, evidence of insurability (or EOI) is a critical element, helping employers and carriers ensure that only eligible employees and dependents participate, and helping to keep cost and choice optimized for employees. However, the data exchange processes around this are often outdated, inefficient and can get in the way of these objectives. Together with Prudential, we are changing this. By working together to create real time integration, we hope to eliminate the delays and headaches associated with EOI processing. We believe this is the future of EOI data exchange and are truly excited to be partnering with...

7 Policies & Documents to Review Now

It’s a best practice to review policies, posters, and forms periodically to ensure that they adhere to applicable laws and evolving company practices. Since the New Year typically brings a host of new laws, now is a good time to conduct this review. To help you get 2018 started on the right foot, here are some tips for conducting a successful review. #1: Sexual Harassment Policies Some states, such as Massachusetts and Maine, require employers to have a policy against sexual harassment and to distribute the policy to employees annually. Other states have specific policy requirements as well. In the absence of a state requirement, it is a best practice to have a comprehensive policy that aims to effectively prevent and respond to sexual harassment, especially in light of the wave of complaints that received national attention in 2017. In general, policies should: Clearly state that sexual (and other forms of) harassment and retaliation are prohibited. Define sexual (and other forms of) harassment and include examples of prohibited conduct....

Inside Business First Person Features ADP’s Dianne Greene

Inside Business recently published a piece highlighting the life of Dianne Greene, Division Vice President and General Manager at ADP. The article chronicles Greene’s start in the U.S. after immigrating in 1985 and continues through her education and career today. Green talks about the lessons she has learned in leadership from her family. She says, “I grew up in a home with leaders. I saw my parents (her aunt and uncle) as leaders getting up and getting dressed every day. And when I went to work with them, whether after school or holidays and I had to be at work with them, they were in charge. They were the bosses. … They led their organizations and I learned a lot just from being under my uncle’s desk and running around his office and watching him conduct meetings, and being at the school with my mom – my ‘aunt mom’ – and seeing her really lead her schools to greatness.” Read the full story on Greene here.
