Overtime Overhaul: It’s Time to Prepare Your Business for Sweeping Changes

In July 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) proposed changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that would substantially overhaul overtime pay rules. The proposed changes more than double the salary threshold that helps determine whether workers are eligible for time-and-a-half pay when working more than 40 hours per week. If finalized, these changes will make nearly five million workers eligible for overtime pay as early as this year, unless their salary is raised. In March 2016, the DOL submitted the proposal to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review. The OMB could approve the rule as is or ask the DOL for changes. The final rule could be issued as early as later this month; once final, employers will likely have 60 days in which to comply. Navigating Compliance Challenges with a Professional Employer Organization

Small and midsized business owners today are faced with a host of employment-related regulations including, paid sick-leave laws, changing minimum wage, state and local regulations, and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). ADP Philippines Brings Light to the Community

ADP Philippines associates are giving back to the community by helping a local village of people impacted by a volcano eruption. Nearly 50 associates recently visited the Villa Maria Aeta Resettlement Area, a community for people displaced by the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo. Villa Maria is located in Pampanga, Philippines, about 110 km (68 miles) north of the ADP office in Manila. The school in Villa Maria teaches children in grades 1-10, with a total of 82 children enrolled this school year.  It’s a small school and in need of refurbishment.  And while the school is powered by grid electricity, the rest of the village is off-grid, relying on kerosene lamps in the evenings. The ADP team went above and beyond to help the school and the larger community. Not only did they repaint the school and brighten it up, they donated solar lamps to provide sustainable light sources to the rest of the town. Form 1095-C: Last-Minute Information as Tax Deadline Looms

The New York Times featured ADP Senior Vice President and General Manager of Health Care Reform Victor Saliterman in an article on the first new major tax form in decades, Form 1095-C. The article, The 1095 Tax Form for Health Care Coverage: What You Need to Know, addresses commonly asked questions about Form 1095-C, including why employees need it and what they should do if they haven’t received it yet: Most tax filers do not need to do much with it, except file it away with their tax records.
