ADP ReThink Global HCM Conference Reveals Insights on How to Manage a Global Workforce

For more than 10 years, we’ve hosted our annual ADP® ReThink Global HCM Conference for top-level executives from some of the world’s largest multinational organizations. This year, more than 140 clients and prospects – representing more than seven million employees around the world – joined us to learn from their peers and industry experts, to discuss global human capital management, and to see some of our latest innovations. It’s always interesting to observe that most attendees believe their people are their companies’ most important assets, despite whatever industry our attendees represent. And they are keenly interested in hearing about how other companies are managing the challenges of a global workforce. During this gathering, under the theme “Transform the Way the World Works,” we explored global perspectives on human capital management, and how a complex, ever-changing global environment influences how we manage those workforces. They acknowledged that the rapid pace of change in the world is presenting them with workforce challenges they’re not fully equipped to manage. And they really...

Form 1095-C: Last-Minute Information as Tax Deadline Looms

The New York Times featured ADP Senior Vice President and General Manager of Health Care Reform Victor Saliterman in an article on the first new major tax form in decades, Form 1095-C. The article, The 1095 Tax Form for Health Care Coverage: What You Need to Know, addresses commonly asked questions about Form 1095-C, including why employees need it and what they should do if they haven’t received it yet: Most tax filers do not need to do much with it, except file it away with their tax records. But because it is new, the form is causing a bit of confusion,” said Victor Saliterman, vice president and general manager for health care reform at the benefits and payroll administrator ADP. Vic also talked to The Wall Street Journal. The article, Tax Tips for Last-Minute Filers, offers tips for last-minute filers and explains people are scrambling to meet the tax filing deadline this year partly due to confusion over form 1095-C. ADP Meeting of the Minds Reveals Priorities in Learning Management

ADP Meeting of the Minds 2016 keeps revealing new insights about business concerns and challenges. More than 1,400 attendees attended the recent conference in the Washington, D.C. area to network with and learn from each other.  Nearly 200 educational sessions, delivered under the theme “Build Your Capital,” covered many of the topics and trends HR leaders grapple with on a daily basis. In a session that Elaine Clement and I hosted called “Trends and Priorities in Learning Management,” attendees rated the top learning priorities in the context of a discussion about Bersin Maturity Models.  These models are designed to create an understanding of an organization’s level of maturity and the impact that moving up in maturity level can have on the business.  Businesses use them to benchmark their organization’s level of sophistication in given areas and to identify the best practices that are most critical to improving business outcomes.   Here is what HR practitioners said was top of mind for them and the organizations they represent: Leadership Development...

ACA Best Practices: Learning from Year One of Annual Reporting and Looking to the Future

Congratulations!! If you were an Applicable Large Employer (ALE) for tax year 2015, you have nearly made it through your first year of annual health care reporting. You’re likely close to issuing the new annual information return to each employee that was full-time for at least one month in 2015 (IRS Form 1095-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage) and are in the process of communicating employee data to the IRS. For some of you, this may have been a smooth process. For others, there may have been some bumps along the way, which is to be expected for the first time through something as complex as Annual Health Care Reporting. Either way, now is the time to start proactively planning for next year—and equally as important, finding out what you need to be on the lookout for to ensure this annual process goes as uneventfully as possible. Listen to our latest webinar to get critical insights on how you can prepare for next year’s annual reporting, including the...

ADP Meeting of the Minds 2016 Stimulates Conversation, Networking and Learning

There was no shortage of in-depth discussions, meetings with peers and colleagues, and increasing our HCM IQ at ADP Meeting of the Minds 2016 last week.  To foster those activities, we conducted nearly 200 educational sessions for more than 1,400 attendees, delivered under the theme “Build Your Capital.”  We hope those sessions also informed attendees’ efforts to make HR a strategic contributor to the success of the companies they represent. Our goal is to help HR leaders refine the processes they use to acquire, develop and retain talent, as well as show how they can improve the user experience for their employees.  Here are some additional ways we did that. For the second year, we hosted a daylong Executive Strategy Summit, where we discussed business issues, such as how leadership strategies are changing in the face of dramatic shifts in the workplace, how to infuse innovation into business models, and how to execute on business strategies and transformations.  More than 100 human resources, talent and finance C-suite executives gave...

Top Three Most Tedious HR Tasks (and How to Fix Them)

We frequently hear from HR professionals that they want to spend more time on what matters most – empowering their workforce. But take a look at your to-do list today – is it still cluttered with administrative tasks? But it’s not what the tasks are that’s the problem – they’re critical to running your business. The problem is really how we tackle them. Here are the three tasks HR professionals tell us are the most tedious–and how integrating your HR solutions can help. “We have so many different places where we have to log in and enter information – it’s basically a full-time job.” On average, companies use more than 31 separate HR applications. Managing these separate systems is time consuming and inefficient. In fact, HR generalists spend a large portion of their day manually entering repetitive information into each system, especially when a new hire starts. By integrating your solutions, you can enter the information at one time in one place. For example, OrgChart Now, a new app...

ADP MOTM 2016: Benefits Summit and Sessions Explore Topics Vital to Business Success

Benefits is back!  Benefits is sexy! Too enthusiastic for you?  Well, it wouldn’t be if you saw how interested and engaged the attendees of ADP Meeting of the Minds 2016 were in the topics we discussed during our daylong Benefits Summit, and in the nearly 30 benefits-related learning sessions we conducted. Fifty-five clients representing 44 employers and 250,000 employees contributed to the dialogue of our second Benefits Summit where we talked about a range of topics, including: how viewing employees as customers and focusing on the “moments that matter” in their lives can provide greater value to them and the employer; driving better business outcomes with an integrated benefits strategy; current and impending federal regulatory issues and wellness programs; and developing a benefits strategy in an evolving human capital management landscape. Other sessions throughout the conference focused on the four critical business imperatives – cost, compliance, consumerism and culture.  We commonly refer to these as the 4Cs.  Specifically, we offered sessions on the impact of federal regulations, insurance exchanges,...

The Business Case: Talking LGBT Inclusion at The Economist’s Pride and Prejudice

The LGBT community has made significant progress in the fight for equal rights – and businesses can and should lead the way in continuing diversity and acceptance. This was the focus of The Economist’s Pride & Prejudice event, which I attended last week. The event gathered more than 200 influential leaders from business, politics and society to address LGBT business issues and drive the debate forward. I was privileged to participate on “The Business Case for LGBT Diversity & Inclusion” panel, where my influential co-panelists and I discussed how inclusion can directly improve a company’s bottom line. As an active leader on LGBT issues, I was enthusiastic to share my views.  I am also passionate about advocating for a more inclusive workplace, and that passion supports my career.   And I’m proud to work for ADP, a company that cares about advancing LGBT inclusion. For the past seven years, the Human Rights Campaign has awarded ADP a perfect score on its HRC Equality Index. Half of ADP’s PRIDE Business Resource...
