Washington Federal Taps ADP to Help with Transforming their HR Processes

Washington Federal, founded in 1917, offers its clients ‘one-on-one, professional, and friendly’ banking services. Based in Seattle, Washington, they currently employ 2,000 staff members across eight western states. Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Lisa King, has been in banking for almost thirty years and with Washington Federal for nine of them. Within the first few years, King saw the company grow significantly through acquisitions; but with more staff on board, HR faced new challenges. With employees in multiple locations, her team also had to manage the laws and compliance regulations that varied from state to state. In order for her team to have the time needed to successfully expand the company, King needed the help of a comprehensive human resource provider: Washington Federal chose ADP Workforce Now®. Says King, “Now that we have the time back from answering phone calls, we can turn to other strategic initiatives, such as reporting – which is now automatic. TLNT has published a byline by Marc Rind, vice president of product development and chief data scientist at ADP, titled “4 Benchmarks and What They’ll Tell You About the Business.” The article explores how benchmarking brings insights that answer questions HR and team leaders need to know, such as: Am I seeing higher turnover than similar companies? Am I offering the best benefits to keep my fresh, rockstar developers? Are people from my team absent too often? It also highlights how this is especially critical in today’s labor market, where job switching is at an all-time high and finding skilled talent is tough. Her intelligence, passion, technical expertise, and down to earth approach are always a delight to experience. Here’s a little bit more about Jennifer in her own words. How did you end up in STEM? I have always loved the Life Sciences. I even scored a perfect science score on my ACT test, which supplied funding for my first two years of University as a Botany major. The life sciences are still a source of inspiration. I’m an avid gardener and work to conserve nature through...

Is Working Longer A Smart Retirement Strategy?

Is Working Longer A Smart Retirement Strategy?

By: Kristin Andreski, Senior Vice President/General Manager, ADP Retirement Services Are your employees saving enough to retire when they are ready? According to recent research, chances are they’re not. EBRI’s 2017 Retirement Confidence Survey (RCS) finds almost half (47%) have less than $25,000 in retirement savings. Employees know they need to save more – most (59%) believe they should be saving 20% or more of their household income to live comfortably in retirement and they acknowledge there will be consequences to under-saving. Those consequences include planning to retire later (57%) and saving more later (54%). Today, 38% of employees also expect to retire at age 70 or older. But is planning to work longer really a smart strategy? There are many great reasons to continue working during the retirement years, but a shortfall in retirement savings isn’t one of them. A Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BOAML) report indicates that employees have a number of reasons for staying in the workforce: Staying mentally active – 62% Keeping physically active...
