Give Me Quick, Easy, Mobile and Definitely Use Video to Find Talent

As a small and midsized business owner the concept of resource-constrained is real, especially through the process to hire top talent. Once you’re immersed in a full-blown search for viable candidates, it can be daunting to discover you may be drowning in the candidate pool because you don’t have the proper tools and technology to keep you afloat. You’re not alone. According to a recent study by LinkedIn, 42 percent of small business leaders around the world rank recruiting highly-skilled talent among their top five priorities. Today, recruiting the best to help your company succeed is not only about finding the right people and matching them with a job that will make them feel happy and fulfilled. Now, business owners and job candidates want to use the best technology to go through the process quickly. What constitutes “the best technology?” For most of today’s hiring managers it’s the ability to: Post jobs to multiple job boards at one time. New FLSA Overtime Rules: Don’t Be Frightened!

New FLSA Overtime Rules: Don’t Be Frightened!

It’s been a few short weeks since the Department of Labor (DOL) announced the final changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime regulations. These are the first major changes to the overtime regulations in more than a decade and could impact more than four million U.S. workers. As business owners come to grips with the fact that these regulations may well have an impact on their bottom line, the questions have been pouring in. What’s interesting is that employers are not just seeking information about the changes to the overtime regulations and what they mean. Many also are trying to determine if they are even in compliance with the current regulations! The new regulations have created a heightened state of awareness and angst for the employer community. Let’s face it: Business owners are busy and employment laws and regulations are not something they focus on regularly. According to ADP research from late 2015, only 25 percent of small business owners and 50 percent of midsized employers were...

ADP ReThink Global HCM Conference Reveals Insights on How to Manage a Global Workforce

For more than 10 years, we’ve hosted our annual ADP® ReThink Global HCM Conference for top-level executives from some of the world’s largest multinational organizations. This year, more than 140 clients and prospects – representing more than seven million employees around the world – joined us to learn from their peers and industry experts, to discuss global human capital management, and to see some of our latest innovations. It’s always interesting to observe that most attendees believe their people are their companies’ most important assets, despite whatever industry our attendees represent. And they are keenly interested in hearing about how other companies are managing the challenges of a global workforce. During this gathering, under the theme “Transform the Way the World Works,” we explored global perspectives on human capital management, and how a complex, ever-changing global environment influences how we manage those workforces. They acknowledged that the rapid pace of change in the world is presenting them with workforce challenges they’re not fully equipped to manage. And they really...

Electronic Time and Attendance: A Logical Step in Nonprofit’s Business Evolution

This article is authored by Louis Medina, outreach and advocacy manager for Community Action Partnership of Kern. Managing staff time and attendance, payroll and benefits for an 800- employee agency serving nine central California counties can be a daunting enterprise – especially if a lot of the work is done on paper. But transitioning seamlessly to a paperless Human Capital Management system can be just as challenging – unless the right resources and technology are in place. That is what Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) learned in the fall of 2015, when it successfully implemented ADP’s Workforce Now – an integrated HCM platform designed specifically for midsized businesses – under the leadership of CAPK’s Payroll and Human Resources Information Systems Manager Eric Kelley. It was a project that the agency had wanted to implement since around 2010, said Kelley, who came on board with CAPK just a little over a year ago. “Several sincere efforts at paperless time and attendance implementation were attempted,” he said. “However, such a...
