Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Turns to ADP for Open Enrollment and ACA Compliance Help

The main mission of Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, or SEWS, is to deliver innovative electrical distribution systems to the automotive industry. As an organization that prides itself on developing new technologies and understanding efficient design principles, the company realized it needed to automate its benefits administration process, and do away with paper forms. With 1,700 employees in the United States, Corporate Compensation and Benefits Administrator, Rhonda S. Gearlds was manually entering benefits information for hundreds of employees. To save time and reduce data entry errors, SEWS turned to ADP for help. “Benefits is often one of the most confusing choices employees have to make, so I was often inundated with employee questions during open enrollment,” said Gearlds. “Now with ADP, employees can go online and can see what they’re enrolled in, which family members are covered, and which elections they need to make. Before, employees were always asking questions such as ‘Will my flexible spending account roll over?’ Now, the system alerts them that an election decision needs to...

More Brokers Consider Partnering with PEOs

As trusted advisors on “all things HCM,” the best benefits brokers are having proactive conversations with their clients and prospects about business strategies to manage their needs around talent, compensation and benefits, and risk and compliance — and that includes professional employer organziations (PEOs). There’s been a big shift recently in brokers’ willingness to partner with PEOs, driven mainly by two factors: Companies are looking to their brokers to support the entire human capital experience, especially around talent, and it’s difficult for brokers to build this support model internally. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has driven more small and midsized businesses to look at PEOs as a good option to help manage health care costs and compliance In an article titled, “Brokers and professional employer organizations: a perfect pairing,” Courtney Simpkiss, ADP Vice President of Broker Channel Strategy shares her insights on this growing trends. Inclusion Goes Beyond the Numbers: ADP Receives Perfect Score on Human Rights Campaign 2017 Equality Index

Rita Mitjans, Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer

Talking openly about diversity is important to creating an inclusive work environment. However, it holds little value if an organization doesn’t implement policies to put that dialogue into action. I’m proud to say that over the past several years, we have demonstrated our commitment to “walking the talk,” by creating workplace policies and a welcoming environment that enable LGBTQ employees to grow personally and professionally at ADP. Sponsoring business resource groups like ADP Pride serves to engage our LGBTQ employees and their allies in implementing inclusive practices like a voluntary self-identification program and awareness training. ADP Pride has also been instrumental in ensuring we have market-competitive benefits that attracts and retains top LGBTQ talent. For these reasons, ADP has once again received a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2017 Corporate Equality Index — an honor we’ve received for the eighth consecutive year. The Corporate Equality Index is the national benchmarking standard on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees....
