ADP TotalSource Exceeds Half Million Worksite Employee Mark, Maintaining its Position as a Leading Professional Employer Organization for Clients Like Contegix

By Brian Michaud, senior vice president of ADP TotalSource® and ADP Resource® ADP TotalSource® has a long history of helping small and midsized businesses overcome HR challenges. We believe that our focus, resolve and diligence help make us a valuable partner for our clients. And we work hard to assure companies like Contegix® that they’re working with a trusted partner and receiving top-notch services that adhere to the highest standards. Seeing that commitment have a tangible impact is why it’s especially gratifying to reach the milestone we announced today: ADP TotalSource now co-employs more than half a million worksite employees. This is an especially impressive achievement when you consider that if ADP TotalSource were an independent employer, its more than 500,000 worksite employees would rank it second among private sector employers in the United States. We’re not entirely surprised by our progress, however. We’re seeing a growing trend for small and midsized businesses to outsource their HR and employee benefits administration responsibilities. We’ve found that this is, in part,...

ADP Benefits: Striving Ahead for Industry and User Benefit

ADP Benefits: Striving Ahead for Industry and User Benefit

By Will Giaconia, VP Benefits Administration As members of the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association (or LIMRA) electronic data exchange (EDI) working group, alongside Prudential, we are at the forefront of data exchange methodologies and standards. However, it is our latest collaboration with Prudential that we hope will help LIMRA and the EDI working group develop industry standards that benefit everyone. Especially employers and their employees. For much of the insurance industry, evidence of insurability (or EOI) is a critical element, helping employers and carriers ensure that only eligible employees and dependents participate, and helping to keep cost and choice optimized for employees. However, the data exchange processes around this are often outdated, inefficient and can get in the way of these objectives. Together with Prudential, we are changing this. By working together to create real time integration, we hope to eliminate the delays and headaches associated with EOI processing. We believe this is the future of EOI data exchange and are truly excited to be partnering with...

Got a PEO? Why not?

Got a PEO? Why not?

By Brian Michaud, Senior Vice President, ADP TotalSource® A new study from the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations® (NAPEO) shows that small businesses that use a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to manage HR for their employees actually see double the annual revenue growth than a company that doesn’t. That sounds like a pretty startling statistic, don’t you think? But when you look at the numbers, it’s actually pretty obvious – PEOs are lowering the stress levels and increasing the effectiveness of small business owners. That’s because while business owners retain the day-to-day control over management of their employees, a PEO handles the HR and employee benefits administration responsibilities. Businesses who partner with a PEO gain access to a larger suite of offerings, including FORTUNE 500®-caliber health benefits and employee growth and development programs. These, in turn, allow clients to provide more robust benefits to help attract and retain employees. There are a number of areas where businesses are benefiting from the value of outsourcing their HR. It’s a...

An Eventful Year for Businesses, and Another One to Come

An Eventful Year for Businesses, and Another One to Come

Insights from the ADP Research Institute® annual study of midsized business owners A lot can change in a year. This has been particularly true of the past 12 months, in which we’ve seen several upheavals and major shifts in business, government and public life. In 2017, much uncertainty remains. A new ADP Research Institute study,”Midsized Businesses Poised to Lose Balance in Time of Uncertainty,”surveyed 756 midsized business owners, C-suite executives and senior level executives about their experience and plans looking forward. The annual report points to the fact that U.S. businesses staffing between 50-999 workers are still taking a wait-and-see approach to business practices that could, over time, lead to weaknesses in strong or strengthening companies. Why focus on the middle market? Because midsized businesses play a key role in the economy in terms of job volume and revenue. The Center for Middle Market Research asserts that “if the U.S. middle market were a country, its GDP (gross domestic product) would rank it as the fifth largest economy in...
