ADP Named to Black Enterprise “50 Best Companies for Diversity” List

Rita Mitjans, Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer

ADP’s commitment to diversity is foundational to our talent strategy and one of the many things that makes ADP a great place to work. Celebrating our differences not only fosters an inclusive work environment where each person has the opportunity to make a positive impact, but it also enables us to better connect with our clients across the diverse markets we serve. I’m proud to share that ADP was recently named to the Black Enterprise 50 Best Companies for Diversity List for our commitment to diversity in four key areas: our board of directors, employee base, senior management and supplier diversity. The Black Enterprise 50 Best Companies for Diversity list, published in partnership with the Executive Leadership Council, identifies corporations that have stood out in developing an inclusive culture and executing policies that increase the representation of African Americans within their workforce, senior management ranks, corporate boards and supplier pools. The companies included on this year’s roster demonstrated recognition of the link between diversity and engagement, which is driven...

What It Means to Support Working Mothers

What It Means to Support Working Mothers

Rita Mitjans, Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer

Jobs and careers are a big part of our lives, but are not the only things that matter. Life changes, like the birth or adoption of a child, brings joy and at the same time, tremendous complexity to our life. It’s even more challenging when you’re a single parent.Although my daughter is now in college, I struggled with balancing work and family initially.Having a boss that gave me the flexibility to go to doctors’ appointments and drop her off at school allowed me to be less stressed and more productive – something that benefitted me and my company. The reality is that while my job hadn’t changed when I returned from maternity leave, my life had. At ADP, we recognize this challenge — it’s another way we live our brand of “a more human resource,” and we also value what working mothers and their families can teach us. Our approach starts with listening to the working mothers in our associate base, having policies and benefits that address those needs, and...

Equality is Good Business

Equality is Good Business

Rita Mitjans, Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer

Would you believe in today’s day and age that it’s legal to fire employees simply because they are LGBT? That’s unfortunately the case in 28 U.S. states. As a company whose core business is to help our clients unlock the potential of their most critical asset – people – tying diversity to the business makes sense. At ADP, we’ve just wrapped up another celebratory LGBT pride month (June) and are excited to announce we’ve signed on to the Human Rights Campaign coalition of businesses committed to driving passage of the Equality Act proposed to the United States Congress. The Act is U.S. federal legislation that would provide the same basic protections to LGBT people as are provided to other protected groups under federal law. More than 60 of the largest businesses in the U.S. have joined the campaign. The Equality Act creates clear, consistent protections that prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, ensuring that LGBT employees are hired, fired, and promoted based...

Best Companies for Multicultural Women Balancing Work, Life and Family

Rita Mitjans, Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer

One of the reasons I am proud to work at ADP is our unwavering focus on providing a workplace that values each individual and enables associates to reach their full potential. The diverse experiences, perspectives, ideas, and backgrounds of our associates are essential in helping ADP deliver great service to our clients and maintain a competitive edge. According to the 2015 Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 70% of mothers of children under age 18 are working or looking for work. Given that, there’s little doubt that working moms, play a critical role in advancing our economy and our own company’s growth.  Considering the impact that women, in particular working moms, have on our business, nurturing a culture of inclusion that enables ADP to leverage the collective talent of multicultural women is not only the right thing to do, but a business imperative. ADP is honored to make the 2016 list for Working Mother Best Companies for Multicultural Women. This is a great achievement made possible by the commitment of...
