smallbizdaily Highlights ADP POV on the Personalization of Benefits

smallbizdaily has posted an article by Kristen Appleman, vice president of Health and Wealth for ADP TotalSource®, titled “The Consumerization of Benefits: Why Personalization Is Paramount,” which explores the trend of small business employees who want their benefits options offered just like other products and services – simple, efficient and tailored to their lifestyles. “It’s clear everywhere you look: From food to media, entertainment to clothing, there are near-endless options for what we consume and how we consume it. ACA Road to Repeal: Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017

ACA Road to Repeal: Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017

On June 22, Senate Republicans issued a discussion draft entitled the “Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017”, which is the Senate version of Affordable Care Act (ACA) repeal and replace legislation. The House of Representatives narrowly passed their version of ACA repeal and replace legislation, the American Health Care Act (AHCA), on May 4, 2017. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) set a goal for the Senate to vote ahead of Congress’ July 4 recess, though it is still unclear whether the vote will take place in that timeframe. There is also a question whether or not there are the 50 votes needed to pass the 142-page bill. So, while the vote timing and tally remain uncertain, there is much we do know about the bill, its implications and what to look out for next. For highlights of the Senate Bill and guidance for employers, read ACA Road to Repeal: Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017. AccountingWEB Features ADP Suggestions for Talent-Starved Accounting Firms

AccountingWEB has published a byline by Ahu Yildirmaz, co-head of the ADP Research Institute, titled “3 Ways Accounting Firms Can Address the ‘Me’ Versus ‘We’ Mindset,” which explores the impact to accounting firms of a growing talent gap and provides ways they can address this workforce challenge. “The study showed that employers think that only 21 percent of employees are passively looking for another position when, in fact, 42 percent of employees are looking for opportunities elsewhere. These statistics spotlight a growing disconnect between employer perception and employee reality in the workplace, which is contributing to an already startling talent drain…We call this employee-employer friction the “me” versus “we” mindset…It means employers need to recognize that attracting and retaining talent is getting harder due to an abundance of opportunity for accounting professionals.” Read the entire article at AccountingWEB. Employers must complete Section 2 within three business days of the employee’s start date. For example, if an employee begins work on a Monday, Section 2 must be completed by Thursday.
