Partnering with a more human resource

The South and West are Rip-Roaring in April

Regional employment grew steadily in April, according to the ADP Regional Employment Report. The service providing sector continued its strong growth with professional and business services adding the majority of jobs across all regions. The south posted the most gains with the west a close second. Looking at key states, Texas led the way in job growth where, if combined, professional and business services and natural resources, mining and construction added nearly half of all jobs in the state.

The ADP Regional Employment Report is produced by ADP®, a leading global provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics, Inc.

Here is a closer look at the regional numbers:

  • California added 20,300 jobs
  • Florida added 16,300 jobs
  • Illinois added 7,000 jobs
  • New Jersey added 3,500 jobs
  • New York added 10,100 jobs
  • Texas added 30,400 jobs

Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge, the ADP Regional Employment Report measures the change in regional and state nonfarm private employment each month on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Please note, the ADP Research Institute® will no longer produce the ADP® Regional Employment Report. The April 2018 report, published on May 9, 2018, will be our final report.
