Florida Experiences First Job Loss in More than Seven Years

In November, Florida saw a significant loss in jobs for the first time in more than seven years. The losses were found in both the goods producing and service providing sectors according to the ADP Regional Employment Report. Outside of Florida, we saw solid job gains in the other tracked states outlined below.

The ADP Regional Employment Report is produced by ADP®, a leading global provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics, Inc.

Here is a closer look at the regional numbers:

  • California added 21,900 jobs
  • Florida lost 7,400 jobs
  • Illinois added 7,200 jobs
  • New Jersey added 2,600 jobs
  • New York added 13,900 jobs
  • Texas added 17,600 jobs

Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge, the ADP Regional Employment Report measures the change in regional and state nonfarm private employment each month on a seasonally adjusted basis.
